DESCRIPTION:Miquel Barceló and Pascal Comelade present a unique performance for the first time in Japan\, while Pascal Comelade improvises on the piano\, Miquel Barceló cre- ates a unique\, ephemeral work on canvas\, created to disappear. Held in Nijo Castle\, which is one of Japan’s most visited and loved National Treasure’s and a major KYOTOGRAPHIE venue. \n\n\nMiquel Barceló\nBorn in Spain in 1957. is a contemporary Spanish artist known for his experimental approach to painting and sculpture. He studied briefly at the Decorative Arts School in Palma de Mallorca and the School of Fine Arts in Barcelona in the 1970s. Barceló’s work is both abstract and Conceptual\, as evidenced by his broad range of paintings\, ceramics\, and installations. Currently living and working between Paris\, Mali\, and Mallorca\, Barceló became the youngest artist to ever exhibit at the Louvre Museum in Paris in 2004. “I like to invent the materials\,” he explains.\n \nPascal Comelade\nBorn in France in 1955. French Catalan musician Comelade is kown as a pioneer to cover standard rock/easy-listening songs in peculiar ways with instuments such as singing saw and toy piano. With his unique style\, he has collaborated with artists including Robert Wyatt and Faust.
