Gorilla Kyogen is a contemporary kyogen started by one of Okura School kyogen actors Senzaburo Shigeyama under guidance of Juichi Yamagiwa, Japan’s preeminent researcher on primates and also the president of Kyoto University. In connection with one of KYOTOGRAPHIE’s 2017 exhibition ‘Family Album’ by Isabel Muñoz. Shigeyama preforms the kyogen in front of Muñoz’s images on the huge installation of 4K monitors.
